DJ-Draven Blog:  Inspirations

David Taylor

Of all those whom I have known, of all those who have given me purpose or pain, there are none who may rival what David Taylor, my father, brought forth. He was perhaps the most intelligent among many I have had the honor of meeting, but he was also one who never fully knew the power he had with emotions.

He was a commander in the IT world and achieved success with Sony that few could comprehend. He has invented hardware with patents still in place. His passion for electronics is the same that I have for music. His logic is the template for that which I have accepted within myself.

My father is also perhaps one of the greatest tragedies. He was denied the love that he should have embraced in a romance that was never fully understood until the breaking of his mortal coils. His intellect clashed with mine as well— we never truly saw eye to eye. It was a rivalry of father and son that endured even at the time of his demise. Yet I see that all I ever sought of him was acceptance for the person I am and I never had the chance to share this. Another tragic tale from the life of one man.

I regret that my father passed away January 1, 2010.

In his death I hope he has found peace between him and I. I have. In this peace I have grown to see my strengths in him and also the strengths I have inherited from my mother. Both are the foundation stones to the man I am today. They are the root of the inspiration that is found in each poem, song, and playlist that comes from my mind and heart.

To hear my shows is to taste of the person I have come to be.
